Welcome to the home of downstream projects in Canada
The Downstream Engineering & Construction Canada Conference & Exhibition is positioned at the forefront of the burgeoning downstream industry in Canada. This industry leading event is regarded as the most significant meeting place for Downstream engineering & construction professionals working at the heart of the region’s most important Petrochemical, Chemical, LNG & Refining projects, where they meet to do business.
Canada is becoming an even more attractive area in North America for chemical-related investments because of a highly skilled and educated workforce, a competitive tax system, government subsidies for chemical investments, and cheap and plentiful feedstocks. There are 4-6 active projects being proposed and researched for Canada, valued at more than $12 billion, according to the Chemistry Industry Association of Canada (CIAC), with many more on the horizon as a result of the Petrochemical Diversification Program, Feedstock Infrastructure Program and various partial upgrading project creating an invaluable opportunity for all elements of the supply chain.
Off the back of a strong 2018 industrial chemical capital expenditures are anticipated to jump by 65% in 2019, according to CIAC. This is due to strong existing business conditions combined with government incentives peaking investment activity in Canada. NOVA Chemicals’ $2 billion expansion in Sarnia Lambton and Inter Pipeline’s propane dehydrogenation (PDH) and Polypropylene (PP) facility were the first wave of mega projects to begin in Canada. Since then the LNG Canada project and Canada Kuwait Petrochemical’s integrated propylene and PP facility in Sturgeon County near Edmonton have been given the green light, reaching FID. And Nauticol Energy has won up to $80 million in royalty credits towards their $2 billion methanol plant south of Grande Prairie.
The sustained level of mega projects demonstrate that Canada remains high on the list of world class destinations for chemical sector investment. If you’re looking to take advantage of this huge opportunity, then this event will provide you with a leading platform to meet and do business with senior level project executives working at the heart of the region’s most important downstream projects.
